In addition to our physicians, NY Family Docs has an outstanding team of Nurse Practitioners (NP) that care for our patients, providing a full range of services. Many of them are bilingual, speaking both English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Tagalog.
A Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who has completed advanced nursing education (usually a master’s or doctorate degree) in a nurse practitioner specialty, such as Family or Adult/Geriatric nursing practice. As independent providers, Nurse Practitioners may address acute or chronic health problems or provide preventive or supportive care. Nurse Practitioners assess patient needs, diagnose illness/disease, create and prescribe treatment plans, provide patient education, and manage the care of families and individuals across the life span.
