In addition to our physicians, NY Family Docs has an outstanding team of Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA) that care for our patients, providing a full range of services. All of them are bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish.
A Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who has completed advanced nursing education (usually a master’s or doctorate degree) in a nurse practitioner specialty, such as Family or Adult/Geriatric nursing practice. As independent providers, Nurse Practitioners may address acute or chronic health problems or provide preventive or supportive care. Nurse Practitioners assess patient needs, diagnose illness/disease, create and prescribe treatment plans, provide patient education, and manage the care of families and individuals across the life span.
A Physician Assistant (PA) is a medical provider who diagnoses illness, develops and manages treatment plans, prescribes medications, and often serves as a patient’s principal healthcare professional. With thousands of hours of medical training, completed after finishing college, PAs are versatile and collaborative. PAs practice in every state and in every medical setting and specialty, improving healthcare access and quality.
