As a healthcare provider in Woodhaven, NY, for NY Family Docs. Nancy Nieves, FNP-BC is committed to providing an exceptional level of care to all of her patients. As a family nurse practitioner Nancy treats patients from 8 years old and up, for everything from a cold and flu to chronic medical conditions. She also encourages her patients to have an annual physical so she can catch any health problems early and help manage them for the best possible outcome. Nancy speaks fluent Spanish, which allows her to easily communicate with her large Hispanic patient base.
Nancy graduated from Nassau Community College as a registered nurse and then completed her training as a nurse practitioner at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn.
Ms. Nieves wants to treat people the way she’d want to be treated at every stage in life, and care for patients as if they were members of her own family. She doesn’t simply consider being a nurse practitioner a job, but a lifelong path she’s been on since she was a child. When Nancy was younger, she had an experience that has stuck with her ever since. She saw a person who was ill and needed help, but the people around just stared because they didn’t know what to do. However, help eventually arrived and she was relieved and marveled at how the first responders were able to provide the patient immediate care. This experience inspired her to eventually become a family nurse practitioner.
When not working, Nancy enjoys spending time with her family, going to church, biking, hiking, camping, long walks on the beach and working out at the gym. Her favorite quote is, “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase” by Martin Luther King Jr. and she believes her faith is what brought her to her path of success, a place anyone can reach as long as they believe.
